Following Joe: The Patriot Doctor And The Siege of Boston

By Alvin Ureles

Excerpt:

Sam was hesitant."Joe, Franklin sent this to us in confidence. He wanted us to know about it, since it confirms all the complaints and petitions we've sent. I have debated what to do."But, Joe was adamant. "Sam there is no debate here; enough with our whining and petitioning, and Franklin's tip toeing around on eggshells. He sends us a loaded gun and expects us to bury the trigger? That's a fool's game. He plays both sides of the fence. Is he a milk toast British puppet or is he an American patriot? How many times have we asked ourselves that question since we chose him to represent Massachusetts?"  Joe threw the letters on the table."You want my vote, here it is. These letters are public property. Read these letters before the House, and give them to Edes and Gill, they'll make nice juicy reading in the Gazette. I'll see that the Committee of Correspondence sends copies to all the colonies."   Sam Adams pretended to be surprised. He was relieved at last. Brother Joe was back in form.
